  33.   These messages about modeler/layout crashes and error messages with the 
  34. speculation it is the dongle or Windhose95 are really mystifying. After 
  35. reading dozens of these messages over the past few months, I was starting 
  36. to wonder if it was a good idea to cross platforms from the Amiga to the PC.
  37.   You don't say if you are installing Rev. C or not. Also, did you 
  38. install the WindowsNT version?  Windaze95 is much closer to WinNT than it 
  39. is to Windoze3.1. If you did pick the Win3.1 AND the Win32s drivers, and 
  40. you have Win95 on your machine, that was a mistake. I don't know if this 
  41. could be the source of your problems. You didn't happen to decide that 
  42. you didn't like the directory named NewTek and change it to something 
  43. else, did you?  Did you check to see if the dongle is securely and 
  44. properly mated to the connector?
  45.   Also, I would hope that people know that you should never, never try to 
  46. hook up something to any of the ports while the machine is turned on. And 
  47. you should never, never try to take a connection off the port while the 
  48. machine is turned on.
  49.   Maybe your dongle is defective. All I know is that I am running 
  50. Windhaze 95, installed LW 4.0 Intel Rev. C and didn't have a single 
  51. problem, and I have my printer hooked up to the dongle pass-through with 
  52. no problems whatsoever, no error messages, no crashes, printer works fine 
  53. while layout and modeler are both loaded and running at the same time. I 
  54. haven't tried any input device on the pass-through and maybe somebody 
  55. else has an answer for that question. It could be that the dongle 
  56. pass-through was not designed with that purpose in mind. I'm sure a call 
  57. to NewTek technical would probably get you an answer to that question. 
  58. And maybe it is possible to damage the dongle with an active input device 
  59. connected.
